With the cost of living on the rise, it can be tough for families to stay on top of the household expenses.

Kylie is a single mum of 4 children.

Caring for a family of 5 the expenses add up very quickly.  Kylie often needs to make choices of what she spends her valuable money on.  Purchasing food for the family is often difficult, many parents just like Kylie go without to ensure their children eat.

Luckily, Kylie has been able to use the food relief services provided by the Geelong Food Relief Centre.  The range of fresh products on offer at the Centre’s minimarts gives Kylie the opportunity to have a choice in her groceries, providing dignity just like shopping at the supermarket.

Kylie can also access other household products whilst at the Centre’s minimart, such as cleaning supplies and toiletries; being particularly relieved to find that Geelong Food Relief also stocked nappies – a particular large expense item.

Thanks to donations to the Feed Geelong Appeal the Foundation was able to provide the Geelong Food Relief Centre a grant of $10,000 to assist in offsetting the purchase, storage and distribution costs of their minimart program to ensure they can continue to provide fresh and nutritious food to the community through their minimarts in the Geelong CBD and North Geelong.
