3216 Connect

Received a grant of $1,500 which will fund the purchase of a ‘Square’ terminal to facilitate payments at their op shop in Grovedale. 3216 Connect also received $3,000 which will assist with the provision of Direct Assistance Food vouchers for community members within the 3216 postcode.

Torquay Food Aid

Torquay Food Aid received a grant of $8,000 to enhance the capacity to provide a greater quantity of nutritious food to a larger number of people in the Torquay region who are experiencing food shortages for whatever reason due to the Covic-19 crisis.

Bellarine Community Health

Bellarine Community Health received a grant of $2,004 to provide built-in pantry cupboards and shelving for the Food Assistance program to allow for more efficient and effective storage of canned and other non-perishable foods.  This program assists vulnerable individuals and families who are experiencing hardship and food insecurity whilst living in Postcode 3223.

Christ Church Anglican Church Geelong

Christ Church Anglican Church Geelong received a grant of $3,500 for their Meals Program to address a nutritional gap which was created when moving their breakfast program to a takeaway delivery service, through the purchase of nutritional breakfast drinks.

Barwon Child, Youth & Family

Barwon Child, Youth & Family received a grant of $8,000 to assist the Feed me Right initiative.  This initiative will allow for the development of food start-up packages for young people entering emergency accommodation, crisis accommodation and transitional accommodation; as well as assisting with the delivery of interactive online cooking classes.

Geelong Food Relief Centre

Geelong Food Relief Centre received a $5,000 grant to support the purchase of fresh fruit and vegetables for distribution through the Geelong Food Relief Centre mini marts.

OneCare Geelong

OneCare Geelong received a grant of $10,000 to purchase necessary equipment to ensure the effective delivery of the Community Meals Program.  This grant will assist with the upgrade of the kitchen and storage infrastructure including a commercial oven, chest freezer, kitchen equipment, trestle tables and utensils, washing machine and dryer

Lazarus Community Centre

Lazarus Community Centre received a grant of $4,900 to provide regular fresh and nutritious quality meals, in a community setting for those experiencing homelessness, or isolation.  Not only does this assist with food security, but it also assists with the improvement of community connections by providing community meals in a shared setting supporting clients, volunteers, and staff.

Wesley Church Geelong (UCA Geelong City Parish)

Wesley Church Geelong (UCA Geelong City Parish) received a grant of $5,000 to support vulnerable people who are seeking asylum, or who have only temporary protection in Australia.  The grant will assist with access to culturally appropriate fresh food on a regular basis during periods of no income, limited income or financial difficulty.  This is of increased importance due to the impacts of Covid-19 on these vulnerable people.

APCO Foundation

APCO Foundation received a grant of $2,000 to provide support in sourcing staple foods, packaging and delivery to community members requesting food assistance.

Sikh Community of Greater Geelong

The Sikh Community of Greater Geelong received a grant of $3,000 to support their Food Relief program. The program aids vulnerable community members by providing vegetarian cooked meals delivered to their doorstep. The program assists those in isolation, facing financial hardship and international students particularly during the Covid-19 crisis.

Uniting (Victoria and Tasmania)

Uniting (Victoria and Tasmania) received a grant of $7,500 to enhance health and wellbeing outcomes for people accessing food relief services through improving the quality and quantity of food provided.  This grant will also improve safety for volunteers via the provision of movable shelving and a scissor lift for the safe transport of food supplies.
