Bellarine Living & Learning Centre

Bellarine Living & Learning Centre received a grant of $8,500 to assist the Food Security @3219 program.  The program aims to provide a 3-tiered approach to address food insecurity within the Covid19 environment including the Food Bank, Food Connect and Food Relief programs.

3216 Connect

3216 Connect received a grant of $1,900 to provide food assistance to vulnerable community members facing economic hardship who visit 3216 Connect seeking help. This grant will assist 3216 Connect to purchase basic foodstuffs including pasta, mince, breakfast cereal, long-life milk, pasta sauce and tinned goods to assist their clients to make simple and nutritious meals for themselves and their families with nutritious and culturally appropriate food.

To allow vulnerable people in Geelong who are seeking asylum, or who have only temporary protection in Australia, to access culturally appropriate fresh food on a regular basis during periods of no income, limited income or financial difficulty.

Mind Works Geelong

To store, prepare and distribute food to those experiencing mental health issues through the support for a Healthy Cooking program that provides a lunch meal 6 days a week.

Lazarus Community Centre

To ensure access to regular, fresh, high quality, nutritious meals and improve community connections by providing community meals in a shared setting supporting clients, volunteers and staff.

Geelong Regional Library Corporation

To provide healthy snack food options for young people in the low income areas of 3214 and 3219 during the intensive study period where food insecurity may be an issue at home. This program will assist with providing optimum conditions for participants to achieve best results.

Geelong Food Relief Centre

To support improved access to nutritious food, particularly pre-prepared frozen meals, by increasing capacity to store frozen meals in a new freezer at the Centre’s the North Geelong mini-mart.

Foundation 61

To support the socially disadvantaged in Whittington to develop relationships, build confidence and self-esteem as they share a nutritious weekly meal in a non-threatening environment.

To improve the food security of young people who participate in the 3219 Youth Group.
